Marie Curie Hospice Fete

On June 6th, I popped along to the Summer Fete for Marie Curie Hospice, which is situated here in Edinburgh South. This fete is one of the ways in which they raise crucial funds.

The hospice provides a remarkable service in caring for people who have a terminal illness and giving support to their families. I've spoken to many constituents who have experienced first hand the compassionate and tentative way the wonderful staff at the Hospice care for their loved ones and provide important palliative care.

At present, nearly 11,000 people in Scotland are missing out on this care when they would benefit from it. Palliative care can support people with all terminal conditions including dementia, heart failure, cancer and many other diseases. Marie Curie are lobbying both Westminster and Holyrood to ensure everyone who needs palliative care gets access to it.

Thank you to all the staff, in particular hospice manager, Hilary Ford and Head of Public Affairs, Richard Meade (pictured above).
